## About 1 in 8 Billion Game — Free Browser Life Simulator

**1 in 8 Billion: A Free Browser Life Simulator Built on Real World Data**

1 in 8 Billion is a free browser life simulator built around one question: if you were born right now, where would you be, and what kind of life would you get? About four babies are born every second. The game makes you one of them and lets you live that one life from the first day to the last, based on real statistics from 172 countries and territories.

You don’t choose your country, your family or your starting conditions. Your birthplace is drawn by each country’s actual share of global births. That means India, with roughly 17% of the world’s births, comes up far more often than the United States, with under 3%. After that, a year passes in about 20 seconds. You can pause, speed up or just watch as your character grows up, goes to school, finds work, falls in love and decides whether to leave home. Your choices shift the odds, but they don’t erase the circumstances you were born into. When the end comes, it comes from real life tables, not a scripted storyline. A full life usually takes 25 to 40 minutes.

What sets 1 in 8 Billion apart from other life simulator games is its data. Birth shares, life expectancy and mortality come from UN World Population Prospects 2024 and UN IGME. Income, schooling, urbanization and health spending come from the World Bank, WHO, UNESCO and UNDP. Birth probabilities are calculated from annual births rather than population size, so each draw reflects where new lives are actually starting today.

The site also works as an easy-to-read reference on global demographics. Every country has its own page showing its birth share, its life expectancy and the other numbers that shape a life there. A live world map shows where babies are being born. Explainer pages cover what “1 in 8 billion” really means and why the odds of being any one person (about 0.0000000125%) are so often misunderstood.

There’s nothing to install. The game runs in the browser on desktop or mobile and needs no account. On a phone, you can add it to your home screen for app-like access. It’s available in nine languages: English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Spanish and French.

1 in 8 Billion suits curious players, students, teachers and anyone who wants a more grounded sense of how birthplace shapes opportunity. It is an independent edition and is not affiliated with [1in8b.life](http://1in8b.life), the original 1 in 8 Billion project.
